Discussion > iPhone Firmware 2.2 Update and Background Running

I've enjoyed Affirmations applicatiions, finding them relaxing and enabling. It appears that the new update to the iPhone (2.2) has disabled background running of your programs and others, though the IPod function and Pandora seem to be running as usual. Since installation of the latest firmware, sound shuts off when the power botton is pushed or when the screen blanks from inactivity.

I've got the same problem with BrainFreqz - sleep induction.

Please, help!

Same. I just downloaded the sleep app and was looking forward to a good early nights sleep. One minute after starting the app it all went pearshaped. It's now 11pm sunday night and insomnia has kicked in and my thoughts have turned from sleep to getting burnt by online retailers. Now that I've seen this thread I take comfort in the fact that at least the app worked prior to Fridays 2.2 update and I'm sure a fix will appear by cob monday. Looking forward to it and hoping for a good nights sleep on Tuesday night (Australian time)

I appears that all my apps that I run in the background do the same thing so no hard feelings on the induced insomnia!

Hi All. Yes, the 2.2 upgrade seems to have wreaked havoc on many apps that previously continued to run when the device went into power save mode. A fix is in the works and will be posted to Apple on 11/24 or 11/25. It's then up to Apple to get it approved and available for download. This typically takes less than a week. Thanks for your patience.

As of 5:00 PM Mountain Time on Sunday 11/23, all of our BrainFreqz and Affirmations applications have been fixed to work properly with the iPhone OS 2.2 update and have been uploaded to the Apple iTunes App Store. Hopefully Apple will be quick in approving these updates and everyone will be able to download and install the updates within a few days.
